“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given …” Isaiah 9:6 At this time of year, the Lord Jesus is portrayed as a cute baby in a feed trough, smiling with outstretched bare arms in the cold night. The Lord absolutely came as an infant, but He did so with a purpose. He’d had this plan from before the beginning of time to become human and die on a cross, taking our sins upon Himself to redeem us and then to resume His rightful place as creator, sustainer, and ruler of the universe and the people whom He resuced.
